My last time in Sicily I remember the night harves My last time in Sicily I remember the night harvest in Contessa Entelina and calici di stelle, ferragosto at the Scala dei Turchi beach and a mindblowing zuppa of frutti do mare. The beauty of Marsala, Catania and Taormina. Time has come again to amuse the taste buds with Grillo, Catarratto, Frappato and Nero d'Avola and check out the latest initiatives by the Consorzio Sicilia DOC which maybe aren't directly affecting how the wines taste, but definitely shape the face of Sicilian wine as a whole. I remember my first meeting with Francesco Ricasoli who explained their sustainability approach, the word was totally new to me. He was talking about all the families that rely on working for the company, about the financial structure of a 1000-year-old business (the number is random). I was struck by this dimension of thinking beyond the wine itself as most of us, outsiders, normally do. It's important to remember: they are insiders, we are outsiders.
